I want to tell you that I read your book in 2 days and couldn’t put it down. You were able to seamlessly weave the complexities of relationships with what I can only imagine was a very well-researched plot of politics, national security, advanced technology, sailing, and fixing things!

I really enjoyed reading both of Helene Morris's books. The story line is interesting and makes you want to keep reading until the very end.

Literary Reviews

Judge, 33rd Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards.

I really enjoy the way that Ellie is characterized, and especially within the context of the quotidian, everyday vibe of this narrative. Embracing that everyday life makes the consistent reveals of deception throughout the novel and the ultimate reveal at the end (again, don’t want to ruin it, but it was SO sweet—I did cry) that much more impactful.

The form factor of this book is one of my favorite parts about it. I loved carrying this book everywhere I went. It’s pretty to look at, the page texture and color (that yellowish vibe that’s so great for early morning and late night reading), and it’s small enough to fit in even my smallest bag, making it my go-to book often when I was choosing what to bring. It’s a small thing in the grand scheme of narrative, character development, etc, etc, but I loved it.

Lastly, the pacing of this book was quite genius. While I did mention some moments of general over-description, I still thought that the information was revealed quickly. It’s not a super long novel to begin with, but the short chapters helped me as a reader follow the narrative well. I didn’t have any problems going back to a chapter to get more information, or skipping around a little bit to see if I could put some threads together. That’s not only good pacing, but that’s good organization, too. Well done in that area!

WHAT FALLS FROM THE SKY

I'm thrilled to announce the release of the second edition of What Falls from the Sky. The story has been updated to support the Ellie O'Neill Mystery series. What Falls from the Sky is book one, but you can read the books in any order.

Mary O’Neill had it all—a stellar career with the U.S. Treasury, a husband, and daughters who adored her. Even though she was aware of the corruption and treachery surrounding her work, she never thought her perfect life would end.

Until it did.

Years later, her daughter Ellie is trying to uncover the truth. Digging deeper, Ellie discovers a connection between her mother, a missing military plane, and the disappearance of an aspiring journalist. Join Ellie as she unravels the mysteries of her past and ventures fearlessly into a world where the line between innocence and deception is razor-thin.

THE TALES WE TELL

Everywhere Ellie O'Neill goes, trouble is sure to follow.

Starting a new job, Ellie should feel optimistic about the future, but instead, she finds herself ensnared in a perilous web of lies and betrayal. As time ticks down and threats loom ever closer, Ellie must draw on every ounce of her skill and intuition to uncover a conspiracy that could rock the nation to its core.

Complicating matters is her growing relationship with Daniel Winstead, an instructor at the Navy War College with secrets of his own. And then there’s Brianna. Ellie has a big heart and is quickly drawn into the drama between a runaway teenager and her loveable, dysfunctional family.

In a world where loyalty is a commodity and truth is the most dangerous weapon, Ellie O'Neill is the only one who can bring justice to light – if she and her friends survive.
