I come from a line of strong women who shaped my resolve in different but equally powerful ways. My grandmother was a professional at a time when women rarely led organizations, modeling independence and quiet determination long before it was common. My mother, who never finished high school, possessed a deep love of reading and was the first to encourage me to write my first novel, What Falls from the Sky.
People often ask whether my protagonist is me. I usually answer that she embodies my strengths and weaknesses, my hopes and doubts, and many of the questions I’ve carried through life. Some elements of the story are true, others close to the truth, and many are shaped by imagination. Through Ellie, I've explored the possibilities of paths not chosen. choices reconsidered, and lives lived with a little more courage.
Like many people, I’ve experienced my share of trauma, including divorce, caring for aging parents, supporting my husband through his Alzheimer’s journey, and my own battle with a rare cancer. These experiences have been balanced by moments of great joy. What has sustained me through it all is the enduring love of friends and family, and the belief that stories can help us make sense of where we’ve been and where we might go.
I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoy writing them. Amazon reviews are always appreciated.
